YES Community Counseling Center’s PACT (Partnering in Action and Change for Tomorrow) project is funded through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (SAMHSA-CSAP).
The purpose of this grant project is to prevent the onset and reduce the progression of substance abuse and its related problems while strengthening prevention capacity and infrastructure at the community level. The program is intended to address one of the nation’s top substance abuse prevention priorities – underage drinking among persons aged 9-20, marijuana, opioid as well as substance misuse and abuse.
This initiative collaborates with the Massapequa Takes Action Coalition, the A.D.A.P.T Farmingdale Coalition and the Levittown Community Action Coalition to prevent underage drinking and substance misuse in our communities. Our partners also include Levittown, Island Trees, Farmingdale, Plainedge, and Masspequa School Districts as well as the National Guard Counter Drug Task Force, Nassau County Police Department, and the Long Island Prevention Resource Center. Working together, we seek to understand patterns of substance misuse to better address this challenge through targeted prevention, education and outreach.
